What is an iPod and how does it work?

An iPod is simply a brand of portable media player (MP3) manufactured by Apple which you listen to through a set of ear phones. Their sleek and simple design and ease of use has helped make them one of the most popular devices of the 21st century.  As at September this year 220 million Ipods have been sold worldwide.
By compressing MP3 files the Ipod can store many hours of music, videos or photos on one small device.
